About Us

Tiny Pea started in 2020, as a reaction to the lack of affordable pregnancy and ovulation test kits in Switzerland. Today, the company works towards improving education on fertility, including access to a variety of fertility tools.

Bilge and Valerie’s story

It was meant to be. On a warm June day in 2022, we met at a TEDx event in Zurich. Valerie was attending with a friend and heard Bilge speak. During the networking session, Valerie sought Bilge out, wanting to know how she could support the mission of the Tiny Pea, and the rest is history. They are both driven by the wish to empower women (and couples) to make the right and best-informed decisions for themselves.

This book is just the beginning. Women supporting women is only going to make us all stronger. Please support us by sharing this workbook with loved ones, who are in need of help, or by sharing your feedback on our website. If you love it, please do leave a review on Amazon or your book seller of choice.

About Bilge

Bilge

“I am a planner, an empath, and an activist, which is what led to the creation of the Tiny Pea and this workbook. I always had a plan for when I would have my first child, but life didn’t follow that script. Approaching 30, I was still single, feeling the weight of my biological clock. At 31, I got married and at 34, I welcomed my first child, luckily conceiving shortly after we started trying. My experience isn’t just about luck; but rather, during that brief period of trying to conceive, my eyes were opened to the profound struggle that 1 in 6 women endure, possibly for years, on their journey to pregnancy. I already knew that women carry a heavy burden, but the challenges of fertility are often kept behind closed doors.
I decided to open that door. Fertility is a complex area, entwined with emotions, physical health, knowledge, and financial considerations. Making informed decisions is crucial to save what can turn into years of misery, and also money. This workbook is here to compile and compress expert-reviewed information to help you learn, assess, and reflect before making these important decisions.”

About Valerie

Valerie

“In my early thirties, I wanted to get an idea of my reproductive health
but was always dismissed by my OB/GYN as “too young“. When I turned 35 with no partner in sight, I decided now was the time. After getting quite an upsetting result following fertility-hormone testing (diminished ovarian reserve or premature ovarian insufficiency), I didn’t get the support I needed from my doctor, so I took matters into my own hands.
I did my research, started to “build my team“ and embarked on a journey of discovery, egg freezing, and a lot of frustration. Fertility is still such a taboo topic and the amount and format of available information is, to put it mildly, not very user-friendly. That is why this workbook is so close to my heart. I am driven by a desire to avoid others having the same experience and instead create awareness, support, and community.”

Tiny Pea on the Media

In June 2020, Bilge Apak Sato, the founder of Tiny Pea gave a TedX speech about how unspoken fertility problems affect our society.

Women and men globally are delaying the birth of their first child. Advanced age fertility will continue to be a topic we must address as a society. In this Talk, Bilge explains why we have a fertility knowledge gap and what to do to get our best chance at our fertility while sharing her own experiences.

Ella Stadler-Stuart is a coach, a lecturer and a successful entrepreneur, who is not openly shares her own fertility challenges but also shines a light on this taboo topic with her podcast.
In this podcast you can listen to the full story of why we have founded Tiny Pea and how the workbook is created.

Some words from Ella:

“Bilge and Valerie came together to work on one common goal: to shatter the stigma surrounding (in)fertility and to build a brave and supportive community.  In this special episode, Bilge talks about how she met Valerie the night she gave her taboo-breaking Tedx talk: Coming out of the Fertility Closet, and Valerie bravely walks us through the process of social freezing — freezing her eggs on her own terms. Together, they share how their company, The Tiny Pea, is providing practical information and tools for men and women’s reproductive health.”
